1. Purpose of This Policy
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how cancellations, returns, refunds, chargebacks, and related issues are handled in connection with listings and transactions made through AntiqList.
AntiqList operates primarily as an online marketplace and classified advertising platform that allows independent sellers and buyers to find and communicate with one another.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, AntiqList is not the seller of listed items and does not itself enter into the sale contract between a buyer and seller.
2. AntiqList's Role
AntiqList generally provides the online platform through which users may:
create listings;
discover items;
communicate with other users;
negotiate transactions;
exchange information; and
arrange payment, collection, or delivery.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the purchase contract is between the buyer and seller.
AntiqList does not automatically owe a refund merely because a transaction between users has resulted in a disagreement.
Mandatory rights under applicable law are not excluded by this Policy.
3. Seller Responsibility for Refunds
Unless AntiqList expressly operates or administers the relevant payment transaction, the seller is generally responsible for handling refunds, returns, cancellations, and other obligations arising from the seller's transaction with the buyer.
Sellers must comply with:
applicable consumer protection laws;
applicable contract laws;
applicable distance-selling rules;
applicable refund and cancellation requirements;
their own stated return policies; and
any mandatory legal obligations applicable to the transaction.
Professional or commercial sellers may have obligations that do not apply to private individuals.
4. Private Sellers and Professional Sellers
The legal rights of a buyer may depend on whether the seller is:
a private individual selling occasionally; or
a professional, commercial, or business seller.
Professional sellers may be subject to additional consumer protection, information, cancellation, return, warranty, and refund obligations.
Buyers should determine the seller's status before completing a transaction.
AntiqList may require sellers to accurately identify themselves where required by applicable law or platform rules.
5. Seller Return Policies
Where a seller offers voluntary returns, the seller should clearly state:
whether returns are accepted;
the period for requesting a return;
the conditions applicable to returns;
who pays return shipping;
whether any restocking or other lawful deduction applies;
the refund method; and
any legally permitted exclusions.
A seller's voluntary return policy cannot remove mandatory consumer rights where such rights apply.
6. Cancellations Before Payment
If a buyer and seller have not yet entered into a binding transaction, either party may generally choose not to proceed, subject to applicable law and any binding agreement already made.
Users should communicate cancellation decisions clearly and promptly.
AntiqList does not guarantee that a cancellation request can be enforced where a binding contract has already been formed between the buyer and seller.
7. Cancellation After Payment
Where payment has already been made, cancellation depends on:
the agreement between buyer and seller;
the seller's cancellation policy;
applicable consumer law;
the payment method used;
whether the item has already been shipped; and
whether AntiqList or a third-party payment provider processed the payment.
If AntiqList did not process the payment, the buyer may need to contact the seller and the relevant payment provider directly.
8. Statutory Cancellation Rights
Certain transactions may provide consumers with mandatory cancellation or withdrawal rights under applicable law.
Such rights may depend on factors including:
the seller's professional status;
the buyer's consumer status;
the country of the buyer and seller;
the method of sale;
whether the transaction was concluded at a distance;
the type of item purchased; and
applicable legal exemptions.
Nothing in this Policy is intended to remove or restrict mandatory statutory rights.
9. Change-of-Mind Returns
A buyer's right to return an item simply because they changed their mind depends on applicable law and the seller's status and policies.
AntiqList does not represent that every listing is eligible for a change-of-mind return.
Buyers should review the seller's stated return terms before purchasing.
10. Item Not as Described
A buyer should contact the seller promptly if an item:
materially differs from its listing;
is materially different from the photographs or description;
is materially damaged beyond the disclosed condition;
is missing significant components;
has been materially misrepresented; or
does not correspond to an agreed specification.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, an appropriate remedy may include:
return of the item;
repair;
replacement;
partial refund;
full refund; or
another legally appropriate remedy.
11. Authenticity Disputes
If an item is alleged to be counterfeit, falsely attributed, falsely represented, or materially misrepresented regarding authenticity, the buyer should preserve all relevant evidence and contact the seller promptly.
Examples of relevant evidence may include:
photographs;
listing screenshots;
certificates;
provenance documents;
expert opinions;
correspondence;
receipts;
payment records; and
shipping records.
AntiqList may restrict or remove a listing where there are credible concerns regarding authenticity or misrepresentation.
12. Fake or Counterfeit Items
Selling counterfeit or knowingly misrepresented goods is prohibited under AntiqList policies.
Where credible evidence indicates that an item may be counterfeit, AntiqList may:
restrict the listing;
remove the listing;
suspend the account;
request additional documentation;
investigate the circumstances; or
cooperate with appropriate authorities or rights holders where legally appropriate.
Any refund obligation remains subject to the applicable transaction, payment arrangements, and applicable law.
13. Non-Delivery
If an item has been paid for but has not been delivered, the buyer should first contact the seller and request an explanation and evidence of shipment where appropriate.
Relevant evidence may include:
tracking information;
shipping receipts;
delivery confirmation;
correspondence; and
payment records.
Where appropriate, the buyer may also contact the payment provider used for the transaction.
14. Damaged Items
Buyers should inspect delivered items as soon as reasonably possible.
Where an item arrives damaged, buyers should:
photograph the package before opening it where possible;
photograph the packaging and item damage;
retain the original packaging;
notify the seller promptly;
retain shipping and tracking information; and
contact the carrier or payment provider where appropriate.
The applicable remedy may depend on the shipping arrangement, seller terms, insurance, carrier rules, and applicable law.
15. Items Materially Different From the Listing
A buyer should not assume that minor variations in antique, vintage, handmade, restored, or previously owned items automatically constitute grounds for a refund.
Age-related characteristics, wear, patina, restoration, repairs, manufacturing variations, and imperfections should be considered in light of the listing description.
A material difference may arise where the item is substantially inconsistent with the seller's representations.
16. Returns of Antique and Vintage Items
Antique and vintage objects may have:
natural aging;
patina;
wear;
repairs;
restoration;
replaced components;
alterations;
imperfections; or
historical modifications.
These characteristics do not necessarily create a right to return.
Sellers should disclose material condition issues accurately, and buyers should review the listing carefully before purchasing.
17. High-Value Transactions
For high-value items, buyers and sellers are strongly encouraged to:
verify identity and contact information;
document the item's condition;
preserve provenance documentation;
use appropriate insured shipping;
obtain tracking;
use secure payment methods;
retain receipts and transaction records; and
consider independent authentication where appropriate.
AntiqList does not guarantee the outcome of a high-value transaction.
18. International Transactions
International transactions may be subject to additional:
customs requirements;
import restrictions;
export restrictions;
cultural property laws;
tax obligations;
duties;
permits;
carrier requirements; and
country-specific consumer laws.
A cancellation or refund may be affected by these requirements.
Buyers and sellers are responsible for complying with applicable international trade and customs laws.
19. Customs Duties and Taxes
Unless expressly stated otherwise, customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage charges, and similar costs may be the responsibility of the buyer or seller depending on the transaction and applicable law.
Failure to pay customs charges does not automatically create a refund obligation for AntiqList.
Users should clarify responsibility for customs charges before completing an international purchase.
20. Payment Processing by AntiqList
If AntiqList operates a payment, checkout, escrow, buyer-protection, or other transaction service in the future, additional terms may apply.
Those terms may specify:
eligible transactions;
cancellation periods;
refund procedures;
payment processing rules;
dispute procedures;
refund timeframes;
payment-provider rules; and
buyer or seller protection requirements.
Where such additional terms conflict with this Policy, the specific transaction terms may govern to the extent legally permitted.
21. Third-Party Payment Providers
Where a third-party payment provider processes a transaction, the provider's terms and procedures may apply.
AntiqList may not control:
payment authorization;
payment settlement;
chargeback decisions;
bank processing times;
payment reversals; or
technical processing delays.
Users may be required to contact the relevant payment provider directly.
22. Chargebacks
A buyer may have rights to dispute a payment through their bank or payment provider where permitted by the relevant payment method and applicable law.
However, users should not initiate fraudulent or knowingly unjustified chargebacks.
Where a transaction dispute exists, users should first attempt to resolve the matter through the seller and any applicable AntiqList dispute process.
AntiqList may provide transaction-related information to payment providers where legally permitted and reasonably necessary.
23. No Double Recovery
A buyer should not obtain multiple recoveries for the same loss.
For example, a buyer should not receive:
a full refund from a seller; and
a second full recovery through a chargeback
for the same transaction.
Users must promptly inform relevant parties if a disputed amount has already been refunded or otherwise recovered.
24. Refund Amounts
Where a refund is legally or contractually required, the amount may depend on:
the original purchase price;
shipping charges;
return shipping;
applicable taxes;
lawful deductions;
partial refunds;
damage caused after delivery;
missing components; and
the specific circumstances of the transaction.
Mandatory consumer rights will prevail where applicable.
25. Partial Refunds
A partial refund may be appropriate where:
the buyer retains the item;
the item has a disclosed or agreed issue;
only part of an order is affected;
a minor but material issue has occurred; or
the parties agree to a partial resolution.
Neither AntiqList nor a seller is required to offer a partial refund unless required by law, contract, or applicable transaction terms.
26. Refund Method
Where a refund is issued, it should generally be returned through the original payment method where reasonably possible and legally permitted.
Alternative arrangements may be used where:
the original payment method is unavailable;
the parties agree;
the payment provider requires another method; or
applicable law permits or requires an alternative.
27. Refund Processing Time
The time required for a refund may depend on:
the seller;
AntiqList;
the payment provider;
the buyer's bank;
card-network processing; and
other financial intermediaries.
AntiqList cannot guarantee a specific banking or payment-provider processing time where the refund is outside its direct control.
28. Evidence for Refund Requests
Users may be asked to provide reasonable evidence concerning a refund or cancellation dispute.
This may include:
order or transaction details;
screenshots;
photographs;
videos;
communications;
invoices;
receipts;
tracking information;
authentication documents;
provenance documents; or
payment records.
Users should provide truthful and complete information.
29. Fraudulent Refund Claims
Fraudulent or abusive refund claims are prohibited.
Examples include:
falsely claiming non-delivery;
falsely claiming an item is counterfeit;
intentionally damaging an item and claiming it arrived damaged;
manipulating photographs or evidence;
submitting false documentation;
abusing chargeback procedures; or
seeking multiple refunds for the same transaction.
AntiqList may take enforcement action against accounts involved in fraudulent activity.
30. Returns and Shipping Costs
Responsibility for return shipping costs may depend on:
applicable law;
seller terms;
the reason for the return;
whether the item was misrepresented;
whether the buyer changed their mind; and
the applicable transaction terms.
Users should clarify return shipping arrangements before sending an item back.
31. Failure to Return an Item
Where a return has been agreed or legally required, the buyer should return the item within the applicable period and in accordance with the agreed instructions.
Failure to return the item may affect the buyer's entitlement to a refund where legally permitted.
Buyers should use appropriate tracking and retain proof of return.
32. Seller Failure to Refund
If a seller is required to provide a refund but fails to do so, the buyer may:
contact the seller again;
provide written evidence of the agreed or legally required refund;
use any applicable AntiqList dispute process;
contact the relevant payment provider; and
pursue any other legal remedy available to them.
AntiqList may take platform enforcement action where a seller violates applicable marketplace rules.
33. AntiqList Dispute Assistance
Where appropriate, AntiqList may review information relating to a buyer-seller dispute.
AntiqList may:
request additional information;
communicate with the parties;
restrict a listing;
remove a listing;
suspend an account;
facilitate voluntary communication; or
take other platform-level action.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, AntiqList does not automatically adjudicate the underlying legal dispute or guarantee a refund.
34. No Automatic Refund Guarantee
Using AntiqList does not automatically guarantee:
delivery;
authenticity;
a return;
a refund;
cancellation;
compensation;
insurance coverage; or
successful resolution of a dispute.
Users remain responsible for evaluating the risks of transactions.
Mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
35. Refunds Following Platform Enforcement
Where AntiqList removes a listing or suspends a seller, such action does not automatically determine whether a buyer is legally entitled to a refund.
However, AntiqList may take appropriate steps to protect users and the integrity of the platform.
Where legally permitted, AntiqList may cooperate with payment providers, rights holders, law enforcement, regulators, or other relevant parties.
36. Items That Cannot Lawfully Be Returned
Certain objects may be subject to legal restrictions concerning possession, transportation, import, export, or return.
Examples may include certain:
archaeological objects;
cultural heritage objects;
protected wildlife materials;
weapons;
hazardous materials; or
other legally restricted goods.
Users must not arrange an unlawful return or shipment.
AntiqList may restrict transactions involving prohibited or restricted items.
37. Communication During a Refund Dispute
Buyers and sellers should communicate respectfully and retain relevant correspondence.
Users should not:
threaten another user;
engage in harassment;
extort money;
impersonate another person;
publish another user's private information; or
use abusive methods to obtain a refund.
Such conduct may violate AntiqList's Community Guidelines and other platform policies.
38. Refunds and User Reviews
A refund dispute should not be used to manipulate ratings or reviews.
Users must not:
threaten negative reviews to obtain money;
offer payment in exchange for positive reviews;
post deliberately false reviews; or
coordinate review manipulation.
AntiqList may remove or restrict reviews that violate applicable policies.
39. No Circumvention of Platform Rules
Users must not use cancellations, refunds, chargebacks, or alternative payment methods to circumvent AntiqList fees, restrictions, safety measures, or other platform rules.
Attempts to circumvent platform safeguards may result in account restrictions or termination.
40. Consumer and Legal Rights
Nothing in this Policy is intended to exclude, limit, or waive any mandatory right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Where applicable law provides a buyer or seller with greater rights than those described in this Policy, the mandatory legal requirements will prevail.
Users are responsible for obtaining independent legal advice where necessary.
41. No Legal Advice
This Policy provides general platform rules and is not legal advice.
The legal treatment of a transaction may depend on:
jurisdiction;
seller status;
buyer status;
transaction structure;
payment method;
item type;
delivery location; and
applicable consumer, contract, tax, customs, cultural property, and other laws.
42. Abuse of Refund and Cancellation Procedures
AntiqList may investigate patterns of suspicious refund or cancellation activity.
Possible enforcement actions may include:
warnings;
listing restrictions;
transaction restrictions;
account suspension;
account termination;
removal of listings; or
cooperation with relevant third parties or authorities.
Actions will be taken in accordance with applicable law and AntiqList policies.
43. Preservation of Records
Users should retain relevant transaction records for a reasonable period.
These may include:
invoices;
payment confirmations;
listing screenshots;
photographs;
shipping records;
tracking information;
seller communications;
authentication documents; and
refund confirmations.
Such records may be important when resolving disputes.
44. Changes to This Policy
AntiqList may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time to reflect:
changes in the platform;
new payment services;
changes in applicable law;
regulatory requirements;
marketplace practices; or
security and fraud-prevention measures.
The updated version will be published on the website with a revised “Last Updated” date where appropriate.
45. Relationship With Other Policies
This Policy should be read together with AntiqList's other policies and terms, including:

Cookie Policy;

Seller Policy;
Buyer Protection / Buyer Safety Policy;
Authenticity & Provenance Policy;

Where a specific transaction term or mandatory law applies, that requirement may take precedence over a general platform rule to the extent legally required.
46. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The legal interpretation of this Policy and any dispute involving AntiqList may be subject to applicable law and jurisdictional requirements.
Because AntiqList may facilitate transactions between users located in different countries, mandatory local consumer and other legal protections may apply depending on the circumstances.
Nothing in this section is intended to unlawfully restrict mandatory rights or access to courts, regulators, or other legally available dispute-resolution mechanisms.

AntiqList generally provides the online platform through which users may:
create listings;
discover items;
communicate with other users;
negotiate transactions;
exchange information; and
arrange payment, collection, or delivery.
Sellers must comply with:
applicable consumer protection laws;
applicable contract laws;
applicable distance-selling rules;
applicable refund and cancellation requirements;
their own stated return policies; and
any mandatory legal obligations applicable to the transaction.
Where a seller offers voluntary returns, the seller should clearly state:
whether returns are accepted;
the period for requesting a return;
the conditions applicable to returns;
who pays return shipping;
whether any restocking or other lawful deduction applies;
the refund method; and
any legally permitted exclusions.
Where payment has already been made, cancellation depends on:
the agreement between buyer and seller;
the seller's cancellation policy;
applicable consumer law;
the payment method used;
whether the item has already been shipped; and
whether AntiqList or a third-party payment provider processed the payment.
If AntiqList did not process the payment, the buyer may need to contact the seller and the relevant payment provider directly.
8. Statutory Cancellation Rights
Certain transactions may provide consumers with mandatory cancellation or withdrawal rights under applicable law.
Such rights may depend on factors including:
the seller's professional status;
the buyer's consumer status;
the country of the buyer and seller;
the method of sale;
whether the transaction was concluded at a distance;
the type of item purchased; and
applicable legal exemptions.
A buyer should contact the seller promptly if an item:
materially differs from its listing;
is materially different from the photographs or description;
is materially damaged beyond the disclosed condition;
is missing significant components;
has been materially misrepresented; or
does not correspond to an agreed specification.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, an appropriate remedy may include:
return of the item;
repair;
replacement;
partial refund;
full refund; or
another legally appropriate remedy.
11. Authenticity Disputes
If an item is alleged to be counterfeit, falsely attributed, falsely represented, or materially misrepresented regarding authenticity, the buyer should preserve all relevant evidence and contact the seller promptly.
Examples of relevant evidence may include:
photographs;
listing screenshots;
certificates;
provenance documents;
expert opinions;
correspondence;
receipts;
payment records; and
shipping records.
AntiqList may restrict or remove a listing where there are credible concerns regarding authenticity or misrepresentation.
12. Fake or Counterfeit Items
Selling counterfeit or knowingly misrepresented goods is prohibited under AntiqList policies.
Where credible evidence indicates that an item may be counterfeit, AntiqList may:
restrict the listing;
remove the listing;
suspend the account;
request additional documentation;
investigate the circumstances; or
cooperate with appropriate authorities or rights holders where legally appropriate.
Any refund obligation remains subject to the applicable transaction, payment arrangements, and applicable law.
13. Non-Delivery
If an item has been paid for but has not been delivered, the buyer should first contact the seller and request an explanation and evidence of shipment where appropriate.
Relevant evidence may include:
tracking information;
shipping receipts;
delivery confirmation;
correspondence; and
payment records.
Where appropriate, the buyer may also contact the payment provider used for the transaction.
14. Damaged Items
Buyers should inspect delivered items as soon as reasonably possible.
Where an item arrives damaged, buyers should:
photograph the package before opening it where possible;
photograph the packaging and item damage;
retain the original packaging;
notify the seller promptly;
retain shipping and tracking information; and
contact the carrier or payment provider where appropriate.
Antique and vintage objects may have:
natural aging;
patina;
wear;
repairs;
restoration;
replaced components;
alterations;
imperfections; or
historical modifications.
These characteristics do not necessarily create a right to return.
Sellers should disclose material condition issues accurately, and buyers should review the listing carefully before purchasing.
17. High-Value Transactions
For high-value items, buyers and sellers are strongly encouraged to:
verify identity and contact information;
document the item's condition;
preserve provenance documentation;
use appropriate insured shipping;
obtain tracking;
use secure payment methods;
retain receipts and transaction records; and
consider independent authentication where appropriate.
AntiqList does not guarantee the outcome of a high-value transaction.
18. International Transactions
International transactions may be subject to additional:
customs requirements;
import restrictions;
export restrictions;
cultural property laws;
tax obligations;
duties;
permits;
carrier requirements; and
country-specific consumer laws.
Those terms may specify:
eligible transactions;
cancellation periods;
refund procedures;
payment processing rules;
dispute procedures;
refund timeframes;
payment-provider rules; and
buyer or seller protection requirements.
Where such additional terms conflict with this Policy, the specific transaction terms may govern to the extent legally permitted.
21. Third-Party Payment Providers
Where a third-party payment provider processes a transaction, the provider's terms and procedures may apply.
AntiqList may not control:
payment authorization;
payment settlement;
chargeback decisions;
bank processing times;
payment reversals; or
technical processing delays.
Where a refund is legally or contractually required, the amount may depend on:
the original purchase price;
shipping charges;
return shipping;
applicable taxes;
lawful deductions;
partial refunds;
damage caused after delivery;
missing components; and
the specific circumstances of the transaction.
Mandatory consumer rights will prevail where applicable.
25. Partial Refunds
A partial refund may be appropriate where:
the buyer retains the item;
the item has a disclosed or agreed issue;
only part of an order is affected;
a minor but material issue has occurred; or
the parties agree to a partial resolution.
Neither AntiqList nor a seller is required to offer a partial refund unless required by law, contract, or applicable transaction terms.
26. Refund Method
Where a refund is issued, it should generally be returned through the original payment method where reasonably possible and legally permitted.
Alternative arrangements may be used where:
the original payment method is unavailable;
the parties agree;
the payment provider requires another method; or
applicable law permits or requires an alternative.
27. Refund Processing Time
The time required for a refund may depend on:
the seller;
AntiqList;
the payment provider;
the buyer's bank;
card-network processing; and
other financial intermediaries.
AntiqList cannot guarantee a specific banking or payment-provider processing time where the refund is outside its direct control.
28. Evidence for Refund Requests
Users may be asked to provide reasonable evidence concerning a refund or cancellation dispute.
This may include:
order or transaction details;
screenshots;
photographs;
videos;
communications;
invoices;
receipts;
tracking information;
authentication documents;
provenance documents; or
payment records.
Users should provide truthful and complete information.
29. Fraudulent Refund Claims
Fraudulent or abusive refund claims are prohibited.
Examples include:
falsely claiming non-delivery;
falsely claiming an item is counterfeit;
intentionally damaging an item and claiming it arrived damaged;
manipulating photographs or evidence;
submitting false documentation;
abusing chargeback procedures; or
seeking multiple refunds for the same transaction.
AntiqList may take enforcement action against accounts involved in fraudulent activity.
30. Returns and Shipping Costs
Responsibility for return shipping costs may depend on:
applicable law;
seller terms;
the reason for the return;
whether the item was misrepresented;
whether the buyer changed their mind; and
the applicable transaction terms.
If a seller is required to provide a refund but fails to do so, the buyer may:
contact the seller again;
provide written evidence of the agreed or legally required refund;
use any applicable AntiqList dispute process;
contact the relevant payment provider; and
pursue any other legal remedy available to them.
AntiqList may take platform enforcement action where a seller violates applicable marketplace rules.
33. AntiqList Dispute Assistance
Where appropriate, AntiqList may review information relating to a buyer-seller dispute.
AntiqList may:
request additional information;
communicate with the parties;
restrict a listing;
remove a listing;
suspend an account;
facilitate voluntary communication; or
take other platform-level action.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, AntiqList does not automatically adjudicate the underlying legal dispute or guarantee a refund.
34. No Automatic Refund Guarantee
Using AntiqList does not automatically guarantee:
delivery;
authenticity;
a return;
a refund;
cancellation;
compensation;
insurance coverage; or
successful resolution of a dispute.
However, AntiqList may take appropriate steps to protect users and the integrity of the platform.

coordinate review manipulation.
Users are responsible for obtaining independent legal advice where necessary.

applicable consumer, contract, tax, customs, cultural property, and other laws.
