Legal Name: AntiqList

1. Purpose of This Policy
This Counterfeit & Anti-Fraud Policy establishes the rules and procedures used by AntiqList to reduce counterfeit activity, fraudulent listings, deceptive transactions, scams, and other forms of marketplace abuse.

AntiqList is committed to maintaining a marketplace where users can buy and sell antiques, collectibles, vintage goods, historical objects, art, jewelry, decorative objects, and related items in a transparent and responsible manner.

2. Scope
This Policy applies to all users, listings, accounts, communications, transactions, advertisements, reviews, documents, images, payment activities, and other activities conducted through or in connection with AntiqList.

It applies to both private and professional sellers and to buyers, advertisers, agents, representatives, and other participants.

3. AntiqList's Role
AntiqList operates as an online marketplace and platform connecting buyers and sellers.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, AntiqList is not:

the seller of listed items;
the owner or possessor of listed items;
an authentication service;
an independent appraiser;
a professional valuation service;
a provenance certification authority; or
a guarantor that an item is genuine, legally owned, or accurately described.

Responsibility for the legality and accuracy of a listing generally remains with the user who created or submitted it.

4. Counterfeit Items
Counterfeit items are prohibited when they are falsely represented as genuine, original, authentic, period, branded, signed, or otherwise legitimate.

Examples may include:

fake antiques;
counterfeit branded goods;
forged artworks;
counterfeit coins;
fake historical objects;
forged signatures;
copied maker's marks;
fake certificates;
fabricated provenance;
artificially aged objects presented as genuine antiques; and
modern reproductions falsely presented as historical objects.

5. Genuine Antique Claims
A seller must not describe a modern object as an antique when the object does not genuinely meet the applicable description.

Age claims must be made honestly and must not be exaggerated or fabricated.

Where the exact age is uncertain, sellers should use appropriately qualified language such as an estimated period or approximate date rather than presenting an unsupported exact date as fact.

6. False Age Claims
Users must not artificially increase the apparent age of an item and then represent the item as naturally aged or genuinely historical.

This includes deceptive use of:

artificial patina;
artificial oxidation;
artificial wear;
artificial staining;
chemical aging;
heat treatment;
deliberate surface damage;
replacement of modern components; or
other techniques intended to create a false impression of age.

7. Artificial Aging
Artificial aging is not necessarily prohibited when transparently disclosed as part of a modern reproduction or restoration.

However, deliberately concealing artificial aging and using it to mislead buyers about the item's age, origin, rarity, or authenticity is prohibited.

8. Fake Provenance
Users must not create, alter, fabricate, or misrepresent provenance.

Provenance claims may include statements regarding:

previous owners;
historical collections;
museums;
estates;
auctions;
dealers;
archaeological discoveries;
historical events;
famous individuals; or
institutional ownership.

Such claims must have a reasonable factual basis.

9. Fabricated Historical Associations
A seller must not falsely claim that an item was owned, used, signed, commissioned, displayed, or otherwise associated with a famous person, historical event, institution, royal household, military unit, museum, or other significant entity.

10. Fake Certificates and Documentation
The creation, alteration, use, or distribution of fraudulent certificates, invoices, authentication documents, appraisal reports, provenance records, export documents, customs documents, or other supporting documentation is prohibited.

AntiqList may remove listings where supporting documentation appears suspicious, inconsistent, manipulated, or fraudulent.

11. Forged Signatures
Listings must not falsely represent a signature as genuine.

This includes forged or misleading representations of:

artist signatures;
maker signatures;
designer signatures;
historical signatures;
inscriptions;
initials; or
ownership marks.

If a signature is believed to be a reproduction, later addition, attribution, or uncertain mark, that information should be clearly disclosed.

12. Fake Maker's Marks
Users must not add, reproduce, alter, or misrepresent maker's marks, hallmarks, workshop marks, manufacturer marks, serial numbers, stamps, labels, or other identifying marks for the purpose of misleading buyers.

13. Counterfeit Coins and Medals
Counterfeit coins, medals, tokens, banknotes, and similar objects must not be represented as genuine historical or officially issued items.

Modern replicas may only be listed where permitted and must be clearly identified as reproductions or replicas.

14. Counterfeit Artworks
Users must not knowingly sell or advertise forged or counterfeit artworks as genuine works by an artist or creator.

This includes falsely representing:

authorship;
period;
medium;
signature;
edition;
provenance;
exhibition history; or
authentication status.

15. Counterfeit Jewelry
Jewelry must not be falsely represented regarding:

manufacturer;
designer;
metal composition;
gemstone identity;
gemstone treatment;
age;
hallmark;
provenance;
certification; or
authenticity.

Claims concerning precious metals or gemstones should be accurate and supported where appropriate.

16. Counterfeit Watches and Clocks
Fake or counterfeit watches and clocks must not be represented as genuine products of a manufacturer, model, period, or edition.

Unauthorized replacement components or modifications should not be concealed where they materially affect authenticity or value.

17. Counterfeit Furniture and Decorative Arts
Furniture and decorative objects must not be falsely represented as original period pieces when they are modern reproductions, later copies, heavily reconstructed objects, or composites.

Material restoration or replacement that materially affects authenticity should be disclosed.

18. Reproductions and Replicas
Modern reproductions and replicas may be permitted where lawful and where their nature is clearly disclosed.

A reproduction must not be presented in a manner reasonably likely to cause a buyer to believe that it is an original historical object.

Additional requirements are set out in the Modern Reproductions & Replica Policy.

19. Fake Restoration Claims
Restoration must not be falsely represented as original condition.

Users should disclose significant restoration, reconstruction, replacement, repainting, refinishing, reassembly, or modification where such work materially affects the object's condition, authenticity, or value.

20. Composite Objects
Objects assembled from components originating from different periods, manufacturers, or sources must not be falsely presented as entirely original.

Material replacement or reconstruction should be disclosed.

21. Fake Rarity Claims
Users must not falsely describe an item as:

unique;
one-of-a-kind;
extremely rare;
museum quality;
exceptionally scarce;
the only known example; or
otherwise unusually rare

without a reasonable factual basis.

22. Fake Value or Investment Claims
Users must not use fabricated valuations, false market data, fake auction results, or misleading investment claims to encourage a purchase.

AntiqList does not guarantee that an item will appreciate in value or provide a financial return.

23. Fake Auction or Sales History
Users must not fabricate previous sale prices, auction results, dealer records, museum references, or comparable sales to make an item appear more valuable or desirable.

24. Misleading Images
Images must accurately represent the listed item.

Users must not intentionally manipulate photographs to conceal:

damage;
restoration;
defects;
replacement components;
counterfeit characteristics;
missing parts; or
other material information.

Reasonable editing for presentation purposes may be permitted where it does not materially mislead viewers.

25. Misleading Titles and Descriptions
Listing titles and descriptions must not contain misleading claims regarding authenticity, age, origin, rarity, ownership history, manufacturer, artist, or value.

Keyword stuffing or using unrelated famous names to attract searches may be treated as marketplace manipulation.

26. Fake Seller Identity
Users must not impersonate another person, dealer, business, expert, museum, institution, brand, or professional organization.

False identity information may result in account restriction or termination.

27. Fake Buyer Accounts
Users must not create fraudulent buyer accounts to:

deceive sellers;
manipulate prices;
manipulate reviews;
obtain information;
conduct payment fraud; or
interfere with marketplace activity.

28. Payment Fraud
Fraudulent payment activity is prohibited.

Examples include:

fake payment confirmations;
altered payment receipts;
stolen payment methods;
unauthorized payment activity;
fraudulent chargebacks;
payment impersonation;
false claims of payment; and
attempts to obtain goods without legitimate payment.

29. Chargeback Abuse
Users must not initiate fraudulent or abusive chargebacks after receiving goods or services where the underlying transaction was legitimate.

AntiqList may review transaction records and cooperate with relevant payment providers where permitted by law.

30. Fake AntiqList Communications
Users must not impersonate AntiqList or falsely claim to represent AntiqList.

payment credentials;
banking information;
identity information;
cryptocurrency transfers;

other sensitive information.

31. Phishing and Malicious Links
Users must not use AntiqList to distribute phishing links, malware, malicious software, fraudulent websites, or deceptive login pages.

Suspicious links or messages may be removed or investigated.

32. Off-Platform Fraud
Users must not use AntiqList to direct another user into an external transaction for the purpose of avoiding marketplace safeguards or conducting fraud.

Users should exercise particular caution when another party insists on:

urgent payment;
unusual payment methods;
cryptocurrency;
gift cards;
payment to unrelated persons;
false escrow services; or
communication through suspicious websites.

33. Romance and Social Engineering Scams
Using personal relationships, emotional manipulation, false emergencies, fake identities, or social engineering to obtain money, goods, account access, or personal information is prohibited.

34. Fake Reviews and Ratings
Users must not create or arrange fake reviews or ratings to artificially increase or decrease the reputation of a seller, buyer, listing, or business.

This includes:

self-reviews;
purchased reviews;
coordinated review manipulation;
review extortion; and
competitor review attacks.

35. Stolen Property and Fraudulent Ownership
Users must not knowingly list or sell stolen, unlawfully obtained, or fraudulently acquired property.

Where credible evidence indicates that an item may be stolen or unlawfully obtained, AntiqList may restrict or remove the listing and may cooperate with appropriate authorities where legally permitted.

36. Cultural Heritage Fraud
Users must not falsely represent archaeological or cultural heritage objects as legally excavated, legally exported, legally owned, or legally traded.

False provenance or documentation concerning cultural property may result in immediate restriction or removal.

The Cultural Heritage & Archaeological Items Policy also applies.

37. Protected Wildlife and Restricted Materials
Users must not use counterfeit or fraudulent documentation to disguise restricted animal-derived materials or protected wildlife products.

Examples may include falsely describing restricted materials as:

plastic;
synthetic;
imitation;
modern;
antique; or
legally sourced

when such claims are untrue.

38. Counterfeit Brand Claims
Users must not use another company's trademarks, branding, labels, packaging, serial numbers, or other identifiers to make counterfeit goods appear genuine.

Legitimate vintage or antique branded objects may be listed where lawful and accurately represented.

39. Fake Expert or Authentication Claims
Users must not falsely claim to be:

an accredited authenticator;
a museum specialist;
a professional appraiser;
an authorized dealer;
a recognized expert; or
an official representative.

AntiqList does not independently endorse such claims unless expressly indicated.

40. Buyer Due Diligence
Buyers are encouraged to independently evaluate important claims before purchasing.

For high-value or historically significant items, buyers should consider obtaining appropriate independent professional advice or authentication.

Buyers should not rely solely on photographs, seller descriptions, certificates, ratings, or AntiqList verification indicators.

41. Seller Due Diligence
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that their listings and supporting claims are accurate.

Before listing an item, sellers should reasonably verify:

ownership;
provenance;
authenticity;
legal status;
documentation;
condition;
age;
origin; and
applicable trade restrictions.

42. High-Value Transactions
Additional due diligence may be appropriate for high-value transactions.

AntiqList may request additional information, documentation, verification, or transaction details where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention or legal compliance.

AntiqList may investigate transactions or account activity that presents unusual or elevated fraud risk.

Examples may include:

repeated failed payments;
unusual account activity;
inconsistent identity information;
suspicious pricing patterns;
repeated counterfeit reports;
coordinated accounts;
unusual review activity; or
attempts to circumvent platform safeguards.

Depending on the circumstances, AntiqList may:

request clarification;
request documentation;
temporarily restrict a listing;
remove a listing;

terminate an account;
limit marketplace functions; or
refer matters to appropriate third parties or authorities where permitted or required by law.

47. Temporary Restrictions
AntiqList may temporarily restrict a listing, transaction, communication feature, payment-related function, or account while a potential fraud or counterfeit issue is reviewed.

Temporary action does not necessarily mean that AntiqList has made a final legal determination.

authenticity;
provenance;
ownership;
identity;
transaction history;
certificates;
invoices;
export or import permissions;

temporary suspension;
indefinite suspension;
permanent termination; or
other appropriate measures.

The severity of enforcement may depend on the nature, frequency, and seriousness of the conduct.

Users must not create new accounts or use another person's account to circumvent enforcement measures.

52. Fraudulent Documentation
Where documentation appears materially altered, fabricated, stolen, or otherwise fraudulent, AntiqList may restrict the associated listing or account and may preserve relevant information for investigation.

Users remain responsible for exercising appropriate caution and due diligence.

57. No Authentication or Financial Guarantee
